Inclusion is a Choice, and that Choice is Up to You
We’re faced with a ton of choices each day: from the mundane to the extraordinary, from the trivial to the significant, from the benign to life-threatening. These are choices that make up our every day lives, and also impact those around us, whether we know them or not.
Including people in the conversation that affects everyone is the very essence of belonging. Inclusion in the most important societal transactions ensures that all stakeholders have the opportunity to fully assert their needs and perspectives on order to reach a common goal.
Practicing inclusion is a lot like practicing mindfulness. It is something that you have to think about, be purposeful about, be conscientious about. Being inclusive is not a passing thought that comes and goes whenever we bother to think about it. It is something that we must carry with us at all times, and use when it will be most beneficial our shared goals.
Inclusion is a choice, and that choice is up to you.
